I begin

So, I am a CCNP and work as a network engineer. My CCNP expires next November and so I decided to recertify and upgrade. In the 7 years I have had to contemplate things in general, I’ve felt a great deal of respect and envy for artists. The pains and the sacrifice, the anguish and self-doubt, the rare successes. I have had all the more respects for the ones that didn’t make it (at least monetarily) and ended up fighting till the end. That is something I have idealized and envied as I have never had the courage (nor the talent).

Before this preamble ends up being a philosophical soliloquy of personal anguish, I think the CCIE will give me a chance at that ideal I cherish. I know better men than me who have tried and are still trying to make the number. But I see there are 20,000 people who have done it before me. I think I can.

That said, I have been reading up about the certification the last few weeks and trying to accumulate the resources before plunging into the study. This blog is part of it. I intend to summarize the day’s efforts spent towards the CCIE here. I drew inspiration from some existing blogs on the net – ethanbanks.net, cciepursuit.wordpress.com, becomingaccie.blogspot.com – to name a few.

It helped me and I hope this will help someone else in turn. This blog will catalog the milestones and progress.
